Microchip to Acquire Taiwanese Design House ISSC for US$329 Million

Taiwanese Bluetooth SoC (System on Chip) design house ISSC announced that it has reached a deal with Microchip Technology to sell 100% of its stake for NT$9.9 billion (US$329 million; US$1=NT$30.128) to the US microcontroller maker, reported the Economic Daily News on May 22. ISSC's product lineup includes Bluetooth headsets, speakers, and other solutions, and has been a supplier to Sony. After the transaction, which is expected to be completed by end-2014, ISSC will become Microchip's wholly-owned subsidiary and will be delisted from the GSB (General Stock Board) of Taiwan's GreTai Securities Market.
